Dayana is a decorative water hyacinth vase woven into a sturdy metal frame. The striped combination of natural-coloured and black-painted water hyacinth fibres immediately catches the eye, and the tall, slender vase particularly accentuates corners and niches.
The woven vase is especially suitable as a boho-style home accessory for dried flowers, but can also be used for cut flowers if you use a watertight container as an inner pot.
Dayana is also available in natural colour.

Main material: water hyacinth
Our vases are made from plant fibres. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.
The water hyacinth is a tropical aquatic plant that grows on rivers and lakes. It actually originates from South America but was also introduced to Southeast Asia. There it is considered a weed because it reproduces incredibly quickly and can cover entire bodies of water with a carpet of leaves. The resulting lack of light and oxygen causes all underwater life to die. Therefore, the plants must be removed regularly. To prepare the plants for further processing, the leaves are cut off and the thick stems are dried in the sun for three to seven days. The result is a sustainable raw material that is abundantly available here at Soeji for many woven goods!

This vase is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
In the selection of our local producers, we value fair wages and good working conditions. Only adult and experienced artisans work in the companies from which we source our goods. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
